This project is concerned with the VHDL implementation of an MPEG 2 Compliant Digital Video Broadcasting channel over a Satellite Link (DVB-S). The map above shows the adoption of proposed Digital TV standards worldwide. As can be seen, DVB-S, the DVB satellite standard, is almost universally adopted, even in the United States. On October 6th 1998 DVB-S was formally mandated in China. DVB-T (Terrestrial) is also gaining ground with 17 countries (15 European member countries, Australia and New Zealand).
